Are there any stretch mark treatments that work?

Question by joseph terine: Are there any stretch mark treatments that work?
So I was wondering do any streachmark treatments [of any kind] work, or do they all just soften your skin to kind of fade the appearence a little bit.

that all sort of depends on what color they are.
usually you can try:
1) cocoa butter: lotions containing cocoa butter are rumored to not only help reduce stretch marks, but to help prevent them entirely. any cream or oil that is made specifically for the prevention or treatment of stretch marks will help keep your skin healthy and elastic.
2) vitamin A, E & C – supplementing these vitamins may help increase the strength and elasticity of the collagen within your skin and reducing your chance of forming stretch marks.
3) time – stretch marks, like all types of scarring fade over time
4) retin-A (tretinoin) – 0.1% tretinoin creams have been shown to significantly reduce the appearance of stretch marks in a study published in the May 1996 Archives of Dermatology.
5) exfoliate daily – use a loofah or scrunchy to remove daily.
6) vick’s vapor rub – many people have reported success using vick’s vapor rub by applying it to a washcloth or paper towel and rubbing it forcefully into the scarred skin on a nightly basis for a few weeks.
7) increase circulation – by taking hot baths and massaging the areas regularly.
8) tanning – go sunbathing! tanning can diminish and even eliminate minor stretch marks.
9) vitamin E gel – break open vitamin E capsules and rub the oil into the skin over the stretch marks daily for 2 weeks.
10) stretch mark creams and lotions – using stretch mark creams and stretch mark lotions that heal and beautify your skin can reduce the appearance of stretch marks. the following ingredients are widely accepted as beneficial for this purpose:

* Cocoa butter
* Rose hip oil
* Emu oil
*Jojoba oil
* Castor oil
* Shea butter
*Vitamin A
* Vitamin E
* Vitamin C

hope i helped. xx

  1. I use lotions with firming properties and they definitely smooth and minimize them over time.

    A more expensive alternative is laser treatment, and you will probably need several to smooth them out completely. Check with a local medical spa for more details regarding this procedure.

  3. Trilastin is the one I use. There are also natural remedies:
    Cocoa butter, Vitamins C-D-E, Aloe Vera, Glycolic Acid (comes from fruit), Shea Butter( for moisture), Retinyl Palmitate (is a type of acid that is said to encourage skin growth).
    Also you can try Laser Surgery and Microdermabrasion but these ones costs much.
    But Trilastin stands out for me. I did use one and the effect is stunning. But I guess it really depends on your genes. Some people have trouble on creams but for me it works.
