Any ways to ACTUALLY get your hair to grow?

Question by Caroline Marie: Any ways to ACTUALLY get your hair to grow?
I feel like my hair hasn't grown in two years. My hairdresser says it has, but it doesn't feel like it.
Does anyone know any little tricks to get it to grow? And do fish oil pills/biotin actually work? Cause I took both for a little and didn't really see results. I've never colored my hair, but I have gotten it relaxed. I want like four more inches. At leaasttt two.
Okay thanks for any help! :)

Getting your hair relaxed can actually damage your hair enough for your hair to break which causes your hair to look the same length. Just try not to do anything relating strong chemicals for a while and you'll start noticing the difference on growth. You can always take a vitamin supplement to make sure it's healthy.

  1. Brushing your hair a lot really stimulates your roots, there are some oils that help but then it leaves your hair oily and it looks like you haven't washed your hair :P but ya just running a comb a few times a day like when your watching tv helps ;)

  3. if you have split ends then thats the problem.
and if not...well some peoples hair grows slower.

  4. Let me start by stating that there is not a shampoo or conditioner that promotes hair growth unless is it prescribed by a physician and contains either "Rogaine" or "Minoxidil".
The only way you can grow healthy hair is to eat a healthy diet high in protein and take prenatal vitamins. (If you are a woman.) I had a client on prenatal vitamins and her hair grew twice a fast as normal.
Hair usually grows ¼ to ½ inch every 4 to 6 weeks.
Also you need to have a trim every 6-8 weeks to prevent split ends. A hair follicle that has a spit end is beyond repair. If you do not have your hair trimmed to get the split end off they will eat there way up the hair shaft like a pac-man. While there are shampoo and conditioners out that make the claim of repairing split ends all they do is put either a wax or plastic coating over the hair shaft; when the coating wears off the spit is back.
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 36 years +.
    Hope this helps.

  5. 1. Brushing does NOT stimulate growth. and cant actually break ur hair.

so r u relaxed? relaxed hair needs monthy protein treatments since the protein is stripped from the hair shaft. Deep conditioning weekly is CRUCIAL! Moisturizing with a water-based product and sealing with an oil is really important. Pick up on cowashing instead of shampooing, and protective styles retain length.
