I want to know the best way of getting rid of them completely. I've tried IPL which helped but didnt completely remove the scars. Please can someone help- my sanity depends on you! Thank you!
P.s I dont need to know how to treat the acne- i've done this! Just need to know about getting rid of the scars!

You should use a regular skin care regimen with an exfoliator, which will help your skin renew itself and unclog your pores, helping them reduce in size. Over time, if you exfoliate your skin, your scarring with decrease, but it may not go away without some time of dermtologic treatment.

Answer by here_nor_there
You can't do this with just supplements. In fact, I'd say supplements are the very last thing you should be looking at. You're at an age like (I'm the same age as you) where you realize you need to hang on to what you've got. And that's going to take some work and lifestyle changes. I know it sucks, but it's just a job like flossing your teeth. You have to be a grown up about it and do it because no one is going to do it for you.

To slow down aging process, you should focus on controlling insulin. Every time you eat something you know is bad, it's aging you. If you eat a healthy diet, that should help signficantly. I'm not a purist so I do eat a treat everyday, but I keep it very small portions and I sit down and take the time to be in the moment to enjoy my small treat. That makes a huge difference so I don't feel deprived. I give into what I want.
Again, if you eat a healthy diet, you shouldn't need too many supplements. Many vegetables help control inflammation. Control inflammation and you help slow down aging and disease. Don't forget to move. Long-lived people still move. One man in Spain had to quit riding his bike at a 110 years old. So keep moving. Keep your muscles strong.

Cysteine is good for hair. You can find that in broccoli and other vegetables like that (cauliflower, etc). Eat these particular ones cooked, though. Protein is also very good to promote collagen. Make sure you get meat in your diet. More veggies than meat though, but get meat in there daily. Vitamin C and magnesium are two supplements I'd recommend because they both have critical steps in synthesizing collagen. Magnesium, key for hyaluronic acid.

Here are two things that also help collagen in different ways. Green tea and blueberries. I'll leave the long explanation up to this very reputable link:
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=fightdz&dbid=6

Keep your muscles strong. It's essential for people with a connective tissue disorder like me to exercise and build strength in muscle to keep the connective tissue strong. You don't have to be manic about it to have an amazing effect. I exercise 3-4 times a week, mostly light weight training and nothing too intense. I can't do impact exercises, so I do what I can and it has helped a lot.

The most important thing you can do of all is to be happy. Worry and stress age you badly. Try to live in the moment as best you can and don't borrow worry from the future. Hard thing to do, but it is true. When you catch yourself worrying, just try to find a way to release it. It's aging you. Go find something to make you feel joyful.

Supplements can't do all that for you. Good luck!

As a tennis player recovering from tendinitis, what sort of vitamin supplements should I be taking?

Question by icantgetenoughconan: As a tennis player recovering from tendinitis, what sort of vitamin supplements should I be taking?
Last fall, I played a little too much tennis and developed tendinitis in my right wrist and began to see a slight hint of tennis elbow, but fortunatley stopped and immobilized my arm before anything permanent could set in. Now that spring is coming, I'm going to start playing tennis a lot and I'm wondering what sort of vitamins and/or excersizes and/or anything I can do to keep my arms and joint strong and healthy. I currently take a normal multivitamin, a omega-3 complex and a glucosamine/chondroitin complex. Is there anything else I can be taking to strengthen tendins/muscles/connective tissue/bones? Also, what sort of excersizes, workouts or warm ups can you reccomend for me?

Nutrition

A diet emphasizing raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds is rich in the vitamins and nutrients that promote healing. Yellow vegetables and fruits such as carrots and cantaloupe are good sources of vitamin A, which is needed for collagen synthesis. Citrus fruits and dark blue fruits such as blueberries provide vitamin C and bioflavonoids to speed healing. Include a generous portion of wheat germ in your morning muesli. As the best food source of vitamin E, it destroys the harmful free radicals released during an inflammation. Add pumpkin seeds for zinc, which acts synergistically with vitamin E. The spices turmeric and cumin are known for their anti-inflammatory action. Pineapples contain the enzyme bromelain, which helps reduce pain and swelling.

Using unrefined, cold-pressed flax seed oil daily on salads or baked potatoes, mixed into rice, pasta or vegetable dishes after cooking, or incorporated into any dishes which do not require heating to high temperatures will help reduce the pain of tendinitis. Unrefined, cold-pressed flax seed oil contains the essential fatty acids omega-3 alpha-linolenic and omega-6 linoleic acid which the body converts into anti-inflammatory hormone-like substances called prostaglandins.

Nutritional Supplements

Nutritional supplements are used to reduce inflammation and encourage healing. Vitamin C with bioflavonoids is important for repairing connective tissue and collagen after an injury; it also reduces inflammation. Evening primrose oil supplies gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a building block for the anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. If the inflammation is acute and painful, the enzyme bromelain taken between meals acts as a strong anti-inflammatory, reducing swelling and pain after an injury. Vitamins E and A help to repair connective tissue and cells. Vitamins A, C and E are antioxidants; they stop injury-induced free-radical damage to cells. Vitamin E further prevents internal *scarring.

Glucosamine supplements, combined with proper diet and vitamins, can rebuild damaged cartilage without producing side-effects. As an anti-inflammatory agent and painkiller, it is effective for long-term treatment of chronic illnesses. Most patients experience relief after taking glucosamine for six weeks.

A healthy diet can provide all of the nutrients needed for healing, plus supplements.

The eccentric program consists of:

Holding a static stretch for 15 to 30 seconds and repeating three to five times (in my case the infraspinatus).

Perform the eccentric exercise slowly on days one and two, moderately on days three to five, and fast on days six and seven. Then increase the resistance (never more than five pounds for the cuff muscles). Three sets of repetition.

Stretch statically as in #1.

Ice for five to 10 minutes to decrease swelling and pain.

Is there anything that can be done for dark circles and puffy eyes?

Question by Dana C: Is there anything that can be done for dark circles and puffy eyes?
I've had this problem for awhile. I inherited it from my mother. It's not from allergies, or lack of sleep, or drugs, etc. I wear a very heavy concealer which helps a little bit, but it's still very noticeable. My mom got cosmetic surgery to correct hers, but I will probably not do that. Is there a product that works to reduce puffyness and dark circles? Thanks

I used to have three rolls down the side of my stomach and they're gone, but now I have stretch marks.

Is that normal when losing weight, and can I get rid of them? Or is it a thing that takes toning exercise? I'm 15 btw.

does anyone know any good eye supplements for eye health?

Question by Zelda: does anyone know any good eye supplements for eye health?
I suffer from frequent corneal erosions/inflammation and have primary acquired melanosis.

Best answer:

Answer by Brainiac
Take the following nutritional supplements for eye health.
You'll ensure that your eyes continue to function properly for years to come.

Before you start, speak with your doctor, if you are taking medications.

BETA-CAROTENE

Take a 5,000 IU supplement of beta-carotene daily.

This carotenoid is converted into Vitamin A, which is essential for good vision, and, unlike Vitamin A, it is also an antioxidant.

Be aware that beta-carotene has been linked with a higher rate of lung cancer in smokers, and high doses may be toxic if taken with alcohol.

Also, your skin may start to turn a yellowish orange color since beta-carotene can accumulate under your skin (this will disappear if you lower the daily dose you take of this nutritional supplements for eye health).

LUTEIN and ZEAXANTHIN

Lutein nutritional supplements for eye health are made from marigold flowers.

Lutein supplements were not available when the National Eye Institute's AREDS (Age-Related Eye Disease Study) testing was done, so there was no certainty about the efficacy of lutein and zeaxanthin as nutritional supplements for eye health.

However, the Lutein Antioxidant Supplementation Trial (LAST) conducted by the Veteran's Administration of the U.S. Government proved conclusively that lutein and zeaxanthin nutritional supplements for eye health are very useful for protecting your eyesight from the damage caused by blue light.

VITAMIN C

Vitamin C content in foods decreases rapidly while they are shipped and prepared.

Therefore, a 1,000 mg nutritional supplements for eye health is needed daily.

Vitamin C is water-soluble and easily flushed out of the system, so use either a time release 1,000 mg dose, two 500 mg doses, or four 250 mg doses throughout the day.

If you are suffering from glaucoma, your doctor may have you take anywhere from 2,000 mg to 35,000 mg daily.

Much of this won’t be flushed from your system because it will be used to repair and maintain the collagen tissues in your eyes.

Be aware that taking chewable Vitamin C tablets can dissolve tooth enamel due to the formation of an acid from this form of the vitamin.

Also, if you have a history of kidney stones, you should take care if you supplement with more than 60 mg per day (the U.S. recommended dietary allowance).

VITAMIN E

You will have a hard time getting from food the 400 IU of Vitamin E that you should have to ensure good eye health. A 400 IU nutritional supplement is necessary.

There are two types of Vitamin E: natural and synthetic.

Natural Vitamin E is d-alpha-tocopherol, and the synthetic version is dl-alpha-tocopherol.

Related tocopherols may enhance d-alpha’s activity, so look for Vitamin E as “mixed natural tocopherols,” which include d-beta, d-gamma, and d-delta forms.

Be aware that Vitamin E acts as a blood thinner, so check with your doctor before using it if you are on anticoagulants such as Coumadin or aspirin, or if you are taking omega-3 fatty acids (which also thin the blood).

It can also raise your cholesterol level, so have your level checked every year.

SELENIUM

Take a 50 mcg nutritional supplement daily as it is an important part of an antioxidant enzyme in the eyes.

Be aware that selenium can cause gastrointestinal problems. If you can’t tolerate a 50 mcg supplement, try a smaller one.

ZINC

The highest concentration of zinc in the body is found in the retinas, and it is important for the proper functioning of the antioxidant enzymes in the eyes.

Therefore, take a 45 mg nutritional supplement daily.

Be aware that excessive zinc can cause problems with copper uptake.

It can also cause fever, nausea and associated vomiting, and diarrhea.

It may also be linked to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, although this has not been definitively proven yet.

COPPER

Copper is also important to the proper functioning of antioxidant enzymes in the eyes.

Take a 2 mg nutritional supplement daily to protect your body against copper uptake interference by zinc, and to give the enzymes sufficient support to do their job.

MANGANESE

A 3.5 mg nutritional supplement per day is necessary for proper functioning of the antioxidant enzymes in the eyes.

TURMERIC

Two 500 mg capsules twice a day will give you enough curcumin to help protect against cataracts.

Sorry if I cannot give specific eye supplement for corneal erosion and melanosis. But the supplements I have given are sure things to improve eye health which you can take.

i think that may be the problem, my parents are splitting and i am failing math. any ideas on how to get them away?

Best answer:

Answer by ClickMaster
Cellulite has nothing whatsoever to do with stress.

Here's the sad truth about cellulite. Cellulite is not fat, it's a genetic-based condition involving an uneven distribution of adipose and collagen tissues and once you have it, you will probably have it for life. However, because cellulite involves fat, you may be able to reduce the prominence of it by burning fat. Unfortunately, cellulite seems to present in those areas where fat tends to leave last...buttocks and thighs. So, reducing the cellulite effect will, for most people, require burning excess fat to a very low body fat percent....something which usually means a serious lifestyle change and commitment to proper eating habits for life with no guarantees.

Exercise won't help beyond burning a few more calories so plan your workouts around fitness goals such as excellence in a sport or occupation, strength, endurance, flexibility, systemic fitness, general health and well being, body sculpting, body composition, etc. Don't exercise with the hope it will help make cellulite disappear because it won't.

Here's an excerpt from an article from the US National Institute of Health, the people your doctor listens to.

"A great deal of money is spent by people who want to rid themselves of cellulite, but no amount of weight loss, exercise, massages, wraps, creams, supplements, or surgery has proven to effectively eliminate it once you have it. Liposuction, for instance, is not recommended for cellulite, and may even make it look worse."
Ref: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002033.htm

I need to know the absolute best skin firming product on the market. Or any other suggestions on how to help my skin firm up. I'm 27.

This is a problem that overweight people face. Lose the weight, the stretched skin stays behind.

This is usually more serious for people who were extremely overweight, and lose weight very quickly.

You can use all the products that promise results, but I believe that if you really worked so hard to take the weight off, go ahead and have the extra skin removed by a surgeon. At this point, you deserve it, and it will look the best.

Question by sharon: What is the best quality glucosamine for dogs product in your opinion? Where do I buy it?
There is a lot of advertising on this issue which is attached to the information sites and I am getting confused. Thanks for your help.
don't tell me to go to my vet - he is useless. He asked me what type of dog I was holding!!! (a classicly marked, pure border collie)

Best answer:

Answer by sillybuttmunky
1. You should go to A vet. Not necessarily the "yours". Glucosamine, though you can buy it over the counter can be regulated in dosages. If you're dog needs 5mg and you end up buying a good brand (which ever that may be) in 15mg, you're poinsoning you dog.

2. Nutro brand dog food has glucosamine IN the dog food already. That may help as an additive.

Good Luck

I had it in both tendons. I went on crutches and did physio for about 2 and a half years. Most of the pain went away....but if I run a lot or walk too much sometimes they just ache.....
If you haven't tried physio therapy then give it a try...also when they hurt a lot try icing them (wrap ice pack in a cloth first) for 15 min on, 15 min off might help ease the pain too. : )

Eating a healthy, well-rounded diet helps your skin. Maybe collagen creams that 'firm' your skin may help-but a little weird or out of place for your purposes. Really, keeping your body as healthy as possible is a great way for it. Maybe VD, VB's, and fish oil tablet supplements will help as well.

Good luck.

Don't tan first of all. Tanning will make it worse. Microderm abrasion has been known to lighten or fade scars. Your collagen supplements only aid in maintaining the health of your skin increasing the time table for your first wrinkle. Will have a minor effect on skin surrounding the scar tissue.

There's really no magic trick to growing your hair fast. PERSONALLY, the less often I wash my hair, the faster it grows... but that can weird out some people! (At one point in time, I washed my hair every two weeks... in just a few months it grew from shoulder length almost to my waist.)

An average head of hair grows half an inch a month. Be sure you eat right and get some exercise, and ditch any bad habits you may have (smoking, drinking excessively, frequent coloring, etc). Some medications may affect hair growth so talk to your doctor if you're on any sort of prescription meds... you might find an alternative to whatever you're taking. Supplements are great, particularly biotin, collagen, L-lysine, fish oil, etc. Be sure to condition well to keep your hair beautiful and healthy as it grows :)

What does free form lysine mean and is there a good bioavailable lysine supplement on the market?

Question by Sweet Thang: What does free form lysine mean and is there a good bioavailable lysine supplement on the market?

Answer by Tracy M
"Free form" basically means that there are no additives that are a part of most supplements (coatings, colorings, etc.) It is meant for people that are allergic to such substances.

Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means that it is essential to human health but cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason, lysine must be obtained from food. Lysine is important for proper growth and it plays an essential role in the production of carnitine, a nutrient responsible for converting fatty acids into energy and helping to lower cholesterol. Lysine appears to help the body absorb and conserve calcium and it plays an important role in the formation of collagen, a substance important for bones and connective tissues including skin, tendon, and cartilage.

You can find all sort of different free-from Lysine at various online stores. GNC has a lot of supplements that you can order on the internet, including free-from lysine.
