Here's the sad truth about cellulite. Cellulite is not fat, it's a genetic-based condition involving an uneven distribution of adipose and collagen tissues and once you have it, you will probably have it for life. However, because cellulite involves fat, you may be able to reduce the prominence of it by burning fat. Unfortunately, cellulite seems to present in those areas where fat tends to leave last...buttocks and thighs. So, reducing the cellulite effect will, for most people, require burning excess fat to a very low body fat percent....something which usually means a serious lifestyle change and commitment to proper eating habits for life with no guarantees.

Exercise won't help beyond burning a few more calories so plan your workouts around fitness goals such as excellence in a sport or occupation, strength, endurance, flexibility, systemic fitness, general health and well being, body sculpting, body composition, etc. Don't exercise with the hope it will help make cellulite disappear because it won't.

Here's an excerpt from an article from the US National Institute of Health, the people your doctor listens to.

"A great deal of money is spent by people who want to rid themselves of cellulite, but no amount of weight loss, exercise, massages, wraps, creams, supplements, or surgery has proven to effectively eliminate it once you have it. Liposuction, for instance, is not recommended for cellulite, and may even make it look worse."

Cellulite is caused by poor lymphatic circulation, where fluids don't reach the lymph nodes to replenish and flush out toxins in your body. So it's basically a build up of fluidy toxins. The funny thing is, people are always trying to invent all these creams to treat cellulite and they promise you results but it's really a waste of time and money.

The best, most effective thing you can do is use a body scrub in the shower every 2nd day. Really scrub thoroughly all over your body, especially around the bum and thigh region. I only say use the scrub every 2nd day because you don't want to over exfoliate your body. Scrub or rub until your skin glows a light pink or red - this is called erythema and it is totally normal, in fact healthy. Because it's circulating your blood to the surface and supplying new oxygen and nutrients to your skin cells, so they'll look more plump, smooth and have a brighter complexion. The redness will disappear after about 5 minutes.

You should also use body moisturiser (it's hard to every day, everyone has busy lives) but when you do use it, really rub it in. Get that circulation of blood and lymph happening.

If you do this consistently every day or so you'll see results over time. It really is the best method of avoiding cellulite. People who get laser done to remove it have to have really bad cellulite. And the only reason they have is really bad is because they didn't take care of their body and possibly a poor diet.

That's another thing, you need to have a balance. If your diet is bad and you don't exercise the care you take for your body externally isn't going to do anything. You need to do a bit of everything.

I used to have rolls, now its stretch marks and cellulite?

Question by Danielle~^^: I used to have rolls, now its stretch marks and cellulite?
I used to have three rolls down the side of my stomach and they're gone, but now I have stretch marks.

And I've noticed cellulite at my waist down...grossss.

Is that normal when losing weight, and can I get rid of them? Or is it a thing that takes toning exercise? I'm 15 btw.

you'll learn to love yourself, since those things don't matter, and trust me guys don't care

there's creams out there for you, but since you're only 15 and they're pretty pricey, i'd just get the cheapest, and easiest things

try the dry brushing method for cellulite:

and for your stretch marks, try cocoa butter lotion:

How to get rid of butt cellulite?

Question by Horses4LIFE!: How to get rid of butt cellulite?
I've been trying to gain weight lately, because I was too skinny (I have a fast metabolism, and it was getting unhealthy). So, I upped my calories and started doing more weight type workouts instead of running. It's working, and I've gotten to a healthy weight. I'm actually happy to say that alot of that weight has gone to my butt :) lol. But, now I'm getting some cellulite around there. Everything online recommends cutting calories and generally trying to lose weight to get cellulite to go away. But, I don't want to lose the weight I tried so hard to gain! I'm 5'5 and about 115-120 lbs, and I eat very healthy!

Question by J A: i am slim but i have cellulite on my abs?
I need to know please how to handle this. It doesn't make sense that a slim woman has cellulite.

Best answer:

Answer by Daniel Ray
well cellulite and fat are different. Cellulite is a type of fat that cause pain when you touch it. Now that we have that out of the way the reason you have fat is because the body requires fat to survive, women need more of it then men as such you have the tendency to be a bit plumper. if assuming you aren't extremely fat it'll look good and make you look healthy.

Does deep massage help prevent cellulite?

Question by Cathleen: Does deep massage help prevent cellulite?
I'm 13, my mom massages he legs every night so she doesn't get cellulite. She says I should do it too while I'm young so I don't get it. Does it even work? She does it because there is a woman in her gym who is in ok but not amazing shape and deep massages every night, and she has next to no cellulite.

How to get rid of cellulite?

Question by Debbie: How to get rid of cellulite?
I'm 5'7" and about 113lbs, so I don't really need to lose weight, it would probably be unhealthy for me to do so. However, I have a ton of cellulite on my butt and upper thighs for some reason. I don't get why, because I'm technically underweight. How do I get rid of it?
I don't actually need to lose weight, as I'm already underweight, so please don't just give me general weight loss tips!
