  1. Health benefits
vegetarians have lower risks for all sorts of diseases, especially, cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, etc. Fruits, veggies and nuts (staples for a vegetarian diet) are full of antioxidants and all naturally protect against many common health problems. They are also are lower in the fat and cholesterol that often comes from eating meat. If you want more detail, I've attached a link below.

Also, The economic and environmental benefits are staggering. People pour tremendous resources into raising animals for meat that could otherwise be turned toward improving the lives of humans around the globe. For example, we could hypothetically feed 800 MILLION starving people with just the grain allotted to feed cattle every year. Further, 2-4 TIMES more farmland is destroyed (think: rainforests) to feed a meat eater than to feed a vegetarian. That is because livestock requires much more land than crops do.They also waste a lot of our natural resources; livestock require over half the water in the United States' water supply every year. Finally, they also produce a lot of manure and pollution, causing a health risk for humans. In fact, more pesticides are used to grow feed for animal consumption than for human consumption. So think about the damage those poisons are doing to the environment and potentially our health, should they leak into our drinking water, which does sometimes happen.

There are also lots of legit concerns with the treatment of the animals who are raised for food. I won't go into the disgusting details, you can look that up on your own. A lot of people go veggie so they won't be supporting the meat industry. I eat occasional meat products (except red meat), so my personal opinion is there are lots of other ways to have your meat and not support the industry. For example, If you want an egg, most cities (at least in my area) do allow people to keep chickens, and as long as you don't keep a rooster, the eggs laid will never be fertilized (aka never actually develop into a baby chicken) anyway, so you won't be killing anything and you can personally ensure the chickens are living happy, healthy lives. However, i certainly respect people who choose to give up meat altogether for humanitarian reasons, they have a valid argument and It is good to see people actually making their lifestyles match their beliefs---so often humans are very hypocritical on this point.

You don't have to go 100% vegetarian to make a difference. Just by reducing your weekly meat (instead of eating a meat product every day, limit yourself to two or maybe three times a week) intake really can have a huge effect on the environment and our global community. :-) There are tons of pro's to the vegetarian lifestyle, I hope you'll research it some more on your own! there are plenty of reasons other than just the most obvious "save the animals" one that make vegetarianism a great choice for anyone!

  6. Less growth hormones pumping around your body due to factory farmed meat products, lower LDL readings in blood,
Save an animal! eat a tree..Live longer, meat is not required to survive.I am only 37 years old and have always been a meat and potatoes guy. Till a few months ago when I was laying in a hospital bed with clogged arteries and I'm far from overweight or obese.. Called Lifestyle changes and they do make a difference in yourself and the enviorment..

  7. You will be doing your body good because it helps cleanse out your system to be eating plenty of veggies! And you'll be feeling good knowing that although others seem to think that enducing turkeys with hormones so they have like 6 legs because people love to eat that part of the turkey the most is no big deal........you realize the repulsiveness of this selfish human activity!

  8. First of all No animals will suffer and killed for us ,selfish human beings .Second of all so many health problems are related to eating meat .
As a result vegeterians are thinner, healthier and definetly happier .knowing that you can eat healthy ,delicious food with out harming any animals is wonderful so you will be a happier person

  9. You are not supporting the meat industry, which is cruel to animals. You also aren't getting the hormones from the beef (those cows are pumped full of hormones when they live. For what reason, I have forgotten. But those hormones stay in the meat, and are very bad for both cows and humans who eat them.)

But you can be an omnivore without supporting the meat industry. Alternatives to supporting the meat industry for meat-eaters include: gathering and properly preparing FRESH roadkill; eating insects from areas where they are less likely to have been exposed to pollutants like asphalt ingredients(locusts, grasshoppers, and crickets are packed with nutrition); raising and butchering your own meat animals. Goats are great, because they will not only eat grass, but noxious weeds. They will even eat poison ivy.oak, and it won't harm them.

  12. Some pros...

If you decide to become a vegetarian, it should be because you've decided that YOU want to make a difference in the world. It will mean the destruction of less animals because of you. It will mean that you will be conscious of the fact that every person can make a difference.

You will probably feel better. You will be more likely to be sleek, thin and have better digestion. Meat clogs up the gastrointestinal tract because it takes so long for it to digest and move through. Vegetarians have better digestive motility.

It's difficult to describe, but the thought of meat really turns me off, I would just as soon eat a slice of leather briefcase with a side order of mashed potatoes and gravy. When I'm in a restaurant, especially a buffet, I look over the foods and the vegetarian dishes just look so absolutely healthy heavenly and melt in your mouth scrumptious. I don't think meat eaters know what this experience feels like.

Vegetarians tend to get higher levels of vitamin C and beta carotenes than meat eaters. These are known to be very beneficial for health. For a meat eater to get the same amount of these eaten by a nutrition conscious vegetarian, they would have to take artificial supplements.

    Now to the cons...

It won't give you the right to judge non-vegetarians, become a PETA activist, as some other vegetarians and vegans do. People use drug stores, over the counter medicines, prescriptions and hospital services. The majority of products and services use chemicals, processes, equipment and paper which have been tested on animals or the process has caused animal slaughter.

Someone mentioned famous vegetarians, and the name pamela anderson screamed at me. She is such a poor choice for example of vegetarian. Sure she doesn't wear fur, but she is wearing breast implants, an artificial device which which involved the torture and slaughter of millions of animals. Considering her age and changes in her features and face plumpness with aging, she probably uses Botox or Collagen. Again, a process and chemicals which which involved the torture and slaughter of millions of animals. She's had medical treatments which involved medicines and treatments which were developed and perfected by animal torture, testing and slaughter. She is a hypocrite and so are PETA.

Other than that, I can't think of any cons. The pros outweigh the cons greatly.
